From Practitioner to Scholar-Practitioner

An Integrated Marketing Communication Portfolio

COM 590 Capstone, MA in Integrated Marketing Communication, UNC Wilmington

More than a collection of graduate assignments, this portfolio represents a philosophy of communication.

Every artifact you'll encounter on this site demonstrates that communication has the greatest impact when it is grounded in research, informed by ethics, accessible to diverse audiences, and shared in ways that empower others to learn.

The pages that follow explain the strategy behind each product within this IMC Portfolio, the problem it solves, the process that built it, and what the work reflected taught me.

Throughout my career, communication has been my way of helping people understand the world around them. Graduate study strengthened that purpose, giving me the research methods, theoretical foundations, and ethical frameworks to pursue it more intentionally. Every artifact you'll encounter in this portfolio is evidence of that evolution.

IMC Portfolio Rationale

This portfolio was designed as more than a collection of graduate work. The accompanying written rationale explains the site's strategy, why I structured it as a signature story, how the three themes work together, why each artifact was selected, and how the experience is designed to guide website visitors through my evolution from an experienced communication practitioner to a scholar-practitioner.

It also documents the research, theory, ethical considerations, and audience-centered decisions that shaped the portfolio and connects the completed work to the COM 590 Capstone Learning Outcomes in the IMC M.A. program at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW).

For those interested in the thought-process behind the work featured the full written rationale provides that context.
